I know it looks as though I’m making excuses for my pathetic lack of blog posts…and, well, I guess I am.
Sigh. I made a pact with myself that I would never again attend to the toileting requirements of another being.The relentless badgering from the nine year old wore me down. She broke me. I drove to Bunyip. I spent the council rates money on Penelope.

Sorry folks. I didn’t expect that the radio gig was going to mean I lost my blog voice. I’m going to work harder on that!

It’s been a full on couple of weeks, especially as I’m not really at my best in the wee small hours. I am however a planner! I’ve timed the wake and departure perfectly.

The wardrobe is carefully selected and laid out in the evening…alarm goes off at 5:00…scramble into my clothes…out the door by 5:07. It’s a science I tell you.

The fact that my morning visual is now dominated by artificial light instead of sun has meant my creative brain has switched (ha) to artificial light.

I have already accumulated a rather high concentration of lamps at Casa Salvation Jane but I figure more is more so I’m planning a bit of a “let there be light” project. I’ll keep you posted – that’s a promise.

My little girl started grade 4, and I find myself wishing that time would slow down. There’s too much to enjoy, and not enough hours in the day.

I’d like to say a huge thank you to my sister, who decided that the worlds largest makeup kit was an excellent birthday present for the nine year old. Just wait until she has a kid. I’m going to fix her right up. She’s going to spend her holidays looking like something out of ‘George & Mildred’, too.
Got to go. The rash is spreading down my neck…

Also a hit was the gingerbread house. I relinquished control, and allowed the newly minted nine year old to decorate it. I believe the results speak for themselves.

Don’t do it. Your old hairstyle is fine. Just concentrate on rediscovering your jawline and getting out of stretch fabrics. You’ve got enough on your plate without realizing that you’ve turned yourself into a brunette sulfur crested cockatoo.

All jokes aside, that was the best day of my whole life. A mere twelve hours later, my daughter was born.

As I write this, she sleeps soundly in her calamine lotion coloured bedroom, no doubt dreaming of the wii device she thinks she is getting for her birthday. She is sadly mistaken…I made her a quilt. Spew.

Despite her bizarre addiction to popular culture and questionable dress sense, she is the joy of my life. Because of her, I understand what love is.
